Tracy City is 6 miles from
Interstate 24 on scenic US 41 South. It is governed by a mayor and
four aldermen. Services available to the residents include a
volunteer fire department, police department, library, Grundy Historical
Society, rescue squad, Tracy City Water Works, Sequachee Valley Electric
Cooperative, Ben Lomand Telephone Cooperative, Grundy County Herald (local
newspaper), Elementary School, many churches, and three banks.
Four
lakes form the "Grundy Lakes" and offer a challenge to fishermen with
excellent bass, bluegill, and catfish. The lake area offers
swimming, hiking, and picnic areas. The Lone Oak Coke Ovens provide a
look into one of the processes which was used in smelting iron ore. Constructed in 1873, these ovens have recently been renovated. (See picture
above.)
Dutch Maid Bakery is Tennessee's oldest bakery,
operated since 1902.
Also located here are American Legion Post # 74 and Veterans Memorial Park.
